SIDNEY RAIDER WRESTLING

The boys were able to put together a solid dual team with all but one weight class full which brought with it several dual wins. The intensity during practice and the leadership of the upperclassmen prepared our boys for some solid wins. Three boys, Patrick McCartney, Zech Roggasch, and Cayson Boltjes, qualified for state this year but we had several others that were right in the mix to get there. Those three boys brought home three medals; two runner ups and one 6th place. They also scored enough team points to have Sidney place 13th overall in Class B. We are looking forward to getting the boys ready for another run at it.

We didn't have a full roster for the girls with three returning seniors, but we did have eight underclassmen join the team. The seniors did a great job leading the team; helping during practice to teach the other girls that had no experience and getting the whole team to support each other at meets and duals. Saphira Whitley was our lone qualifier for state this year with the possibility to be our first female medal winner. However, she had a tough few matches and wasn't able to place. We hope to continue to build the girls' team and get some more to punch their tickets to Omaha this next year.

None of our success is possible without the hard work of our coaches and the support from our school and our community. We are truly blessed and thankful to be a part of this team
